Internationally known Musician/Composer/Arranger and Author Gary Wolk was born in Racine, WI. At age 8, in 1961 he started playing guitar. At 12 years old he joined his first band, and in his teen years played in many local “garage bands”, and started teaching guitar lessons while in High School. He entered the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in 1971 majoring in music education, string bass, and Classical guitar as well as playing in Jazz Ensemble, Orchestra, Guitar Ensemble, and Choir. After graduation he started teaching guitar and bass privately, as well as playing in bands in the Milwaukee-Chicago area for 10 years. In the mid-80s he worked for Hal Leonard Publishing writing and editing many guitar publications, including revising the Learning Unlimited Guitar Series.

In 1985 Gary re-located to Nashville, TN where he recorded and toured with the group “Ride The River” and did some session work. They played many venues all over the country, and were an opening act for many of the top Country acts of the time, and released 4 singles that all charted on the Billboard Country Chart.

In 1991 he moved to Connecticut where he was involved in regional musical theater for the next 10 years playing many shows as a member of the pit orchestra on guitar and bass, as well as being the musical director for such shows as “The Who’s Tommy” “Forever Plaid”, “Always, Patsy Cline”, “The Rocky Horror Show”, and “Damn Yankees”.

In the early 2000’s he stopped performing, and got involved with writing, and learning the recording process. In 2010 he started composing, recording, producing, and arranging instrumental production music in his home studio. His catalog now contains over 1700 tracks, and they have been used TV productions, feature films, independent films, corporate presentations, commercials, and websites. Many of his tracks are also available for purchase and/or download on Apple Music, Spotify, Pandora, You Tube and other streaming services.

Along with performing composing, and teaching, he has many years experience working in the music products industry in sales, retail, distribution, and manufacturing.

He is also an arranger, and has many of his arrangements for choral, orchestral, guitar, and ensemble music available through sheetmusicdirect, sheetmusicplus, and J.W. Pepper.
